This weeks I spent a few days in San Francisco at the Inman Real Estate Connect conference. I had the pleasure of doing a talk on “Kick Ass Real Estate Websites” with Chris Pearson from DiyThemes.com. For those of you who do not know, Inman is a real estate news and technology website, very much like business2.com.au but slightly bigger (by a factor of about a million).
Whilst I was there I decided to give my FlipHD video recorder a run and do a few little interviews with some vendors I found that had interesting software that could benefit the real estate industry. Some of these are USA specific, but some also offer services in Australia.

Thanks Emily, yes it was good, there are a lot of good ideas in the marketplace. I especially like http://www.Nabewise.com. I think the ideas/data they bring to suburbs are excellent. They are a small organisation, with some savvy talent behind them – a good pick for a possibly Domain or MyHome to add to their websites (as REA are already aligned with the excellent streetadvisor.com), from what I understand it would take that long for them to cover all of Australia’s major cities.

Peter, I also agree – Nabewise is great. When I was in NYC for Inman in Jan I also took my handycam and video interviewed Andrew Kremolish (one of the Nabewise developers) – I think they had 3 staff then, and they had only just launched the service that very week. It ended up in our TV show (http://bit.ly/97Rvb7).
While the conference presentations are great, I loved walking through the trade show area, down ‘start up alley’, talking with and viewing the new technologies being developed for real estate. Like I’ve died and gone to heaven! (sad, but true)

Charlie, yes they actually mentioned your name and your website. Startup Alley is pretty cool.
I think it’s a little too expensive for most startups though, I would like toi see Inman really drop the prices for these companies.
Qonnect is a pretty cool application as well – pity their website is not ready. They charge $15 USD per month per agent to have their own mobile website.

I thought Streetwise looked familiar. I didn’t know until now that realestate.com.au used a white-label version of it. Do you know if the content added on realestate.com.au white label version is stored and shows on streetadvisor.com or are the content sets independent?
