Looking at the above headline – you would be led to think that the new reforms are being backed by this writer. The governments argument is that it will create more jobs.
They are right! If a company can control wage rises, terms and conditions the they will be able to freeze real wage increases and therefore create new jobs. By putting these reforms in at a time when Australia are supposedly doing better than ever – the government has moved at the right time.
In good times it is fair to say that employees have much more control – simply because they are in more demand. However, turn the tables to downturns in the economy the scales break back stronger in the other direction, as employees will pretty take any job under any conditions to place food on the table and pay off mortgages.
A better society is what the end goal should be about – it should not be just about money and this is a worrying trend with just about anything in our country these days.
We have to start making choices for our future and that of the younger generation and what is best for us does not need to always come down to money.
It would be just so nice if we had a viable opposition, then we would have some choices!
